It’s December; fall is officially over. The beautiful, once orangey-red leaves have disappeared and are beginning to be replaced with snow and slush. Wearing a sweater isn’t enough anymore, and it feels like you need ten layers just to stay warm outside. Here are some things you can wear/do to stay warm while avoiding looking ridiculous in your jacket + snow pants + gloves + neck warmer + hat + boots combo⸺unless you can pull it off, then carry on.

  1. Fleece-lined pants

As a kid I only wore leggings, even in the winter. My dad was very worried about me freezing to death, so he bought me fleece-lined jeans. These jeans are perfect if you like a baggier look. I find that whenever I wear denim in the winter, they stick to my legs and make me even colder. But fleece-lined jeans give you the jeans you want without freezing your legs off. You can find pants like these at Amazon, Old Navy, L.L.Bean, and more.

  1. Fleece-lined tights

This is for the people who love to wear skirts and dresses even when it’s cold out. I love the oversized sweater and mini skirt look, but our cold Canadian winters make it impossible to do so. This is why I like to wear fleece-lined tights. They keep your legs warm and your outfits super cute.

  1. Warm socks

I know it may seem silly, but fuzzy socks are the perfect thing to keep your feet from freezing. If you don’t want to wear huge winter boots but want warm feet, this is what I’d recommend. However, if it starts snowing, maybe just keep spare shoes in your locker. You can buy fuzzy socks from even the dollar store.

  1. Layers

Start with just wearing layers underneath your clothes if you can. I’ve found that even a sweater isn’t warm enough so I’ll wear a long sleeved top underneath it.

  1. Cute accessories

I recently just bought the cutest pair of mittens from the dollar store of all places. The best part is they actually keep my hands warm but still look really cute. You can also start finding scarves, earmuffs, etc. that all match. This makes your outfits look more prepared and thought out.
