Come to the veiled woman

She draws you in

Toward the crossroads

You hate to go there

But you love blood too much

And she knows it

You keep her in your stables

She’s sick at your door

But sweet scents come from the other side

Maybe it’s a lie

Her soft steps, you hear them

The sound pulling tighter around your ear

You like to say you hate it

But you know better

See the woman there

She stands on the crossroads

In a bleeding white dress

With a veil over her head

You suffer when you stray from her

She takes you to unforgettable lands

You dream of her tongue

But you’ve dug too far that now your fingertips run red

You tie her up

But she knows what you have done

From however far away

She knows who you are

She’s all your sins

All your faults

Maybe she’ll kill you

And you dream of it

She has your insides

Spilt out all around you

Because she knows what you have done

You want her skin again

You loved it when you had it

You’re drawn to the veiled woman

To your death

And she leads you

To the crossroads

Don’t let her out

She might get away

Keep the veil on

And don’t look at what you’ve done

You know what you have done

There’s nothing you can do

You fear her in your shallow sleep

Keep the veil on

The Veiled Woman tells the tale of a man who has committed unthinkable crimes. He knows what he has done is morally wrong, but he enjoys the pain he inflicts onto others because it allows him to feel a sense of power and authority. The woman is a symbol of his ill deeds. He locks her away in hopes that he will forget about his crimes but is only further tempted and is haunted by his past. He keeps her hidden, deep in his stable, with her veil on so that he does not have to accept all that he has done.
