Thanks to climate change, this year's October weather is not what most people had hoped it would be. Instead of dropping to sweater weather the temperature has risen upward of 30 degrees; as a consequence, shorts continue to be in season for the majority of the population⸺with the exception of the ridiculous people who wear them in any climate to which this change does not faze. In the meantime, as we wait for autumn to approach, there are many things one can do in anticipation of the best season of the year.

Here are Eco-Council’s top 5 pumpkin-themed recipes to give you baking inspiration to foster a fall mood despite the weather, and top 5 volunteer opportunities where you can get involved in fighting climate change this season⸺and get some volunteer hours in the process.

And when finally the climate reaches what we know as autumn weather, the temperature appropriate for apple picking, pumpkin carving, gorging on miniature chocolates, and binge-watching the Scream movies, we will be prepared. But, as time passes, our once-lit in pumpkins will disintegrate⸺obviously composted⸺, the leaves will shrivel, and eventually, we will become the ghosts that once haunted us. This beautiful fleeting season will dissipate, replaced by the biting cold of November… if it arrives at all.
